Good morning! It is so hard to believe that it will be August in a couple days! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. 🙂 We tried out a local ice cream place (Kris & Kate’s) that was perfect for Lana. It had a sandbox and a large dollhouse for her to play in! That is a genius idea, because it allows the parents to relax and enjoy their ice cream while the kids can play and eat ice cream at the same time! We also went to the park on Saturday for a family birthday party. It was such a beautiful day, and the cool breeze gave me the perfect excuse to wear the fringe cardigan that I bought recently!
If you have been wanting some outfit ideas for how to transition into Fall, adding something like this fringe cardigan to your normal Summer outfit is so easy! It is a longer length, so it looks really cute with a pair of shorts! I am wearing an XS, and it is on sale for $32 + an extra 30% off until tomorrow!
You can shop my fringe cardigan + rest of my outfit below, and now I’m going to answer a few questions that you guys wanted me to answer in today’s post. 🙂
Monday Morning Coffee Convo
- “What inspired you to start blogging?”
I could honestly write a whole blog post about this topic, but I will try to make my answer as simple as possible. After Ashton and I had Lana, I became a Stay-at-Home Mom (best job ever). 🙂 After a few months of enjoying and adjusting to Mom life, I had the urge to look for something I could use as a creative outlet while potentially making money at the same time. I knew that this was a very important time in my life to try something out that wasn’t the norm, because I could try certain things that I might not have the time or flexibility to do if I was working somewhere full-time.
I started doing some research on the internet and saw a lot of posts about blogging/influencer marketing. After following some amazing bloggers on Instagram, I realized that I could start trying to do what they do! With blogging, you honestly don’t know how long it will be before you make any kind of income. I knew that I had to give it a try, because this was probably the best time in my life to do it! I have always had a passion for writing, so that started the “blogging” side of it for me, and I have also always loved how styling an outfit and playing with makeup is like art. It is such a big expression of your personality, and it is always fun to see the end look!
Many of you have also heard me mention how I was always shy growing up and am pretty introverted now. Lots of times growing up, I would be afraid to draw too much attention to myself. I wanted my daughter to grow up seeing me confidently chase after my dreams and not worry so much about everything else. There are also A LOT of great opportunities that come with blogging/influencer marketing, and I have lots of hopes and dreams for me and my family. If you get down to the root of it all, my ultimate inspiration for all of this is Lana/my little family. Whatever allows me to spend more time with them and create great opportunities for us is what I’m looking for.
I also have a passion to help other women feel like they can easily be the best version of themselves. It doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks. You have so much potential and so many unique gifts, and you have the responsibility to make them shine! That’s why God gave them to you. 🙂 On the clothing side of things, I really enjoy sharing affordable pieces that everyone can try. There are definitely things I think are worth the splurge, but I love showing how you can have fun with your style on a budget! On the Mom side of things, it can be really easy to forget about taking care of yourself. I love thinking that any little thing I might share might make another Mom (or really anyone who needs it) excited or feel beautiful when they try it out! 🙂
Okay. I could keep going, but I will go onto the next question for today!
- “What filter do you use?”
I’ve been getting asked this a lot lately! I have tried many filters/presets since I started my Instagram account. I have even made and used some of my own. It feels like a constant journey to get that exact look you are going for! Right now, I have been trying out the Marina McAvoy presets for Lightroom. After applying the preset, I then make additional changes to make it more my own. 🙂
- “What do you use on your lashes, or do you have extensions?”
I only use mascara! 🙂 My favorite drugstore mascara for years has been the waterproof Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Mascara! The waterproof formula is the only one that makes my lashes hold up the way I like. I have always liked a mascara that holds up my lashes and separates/defines them really well. I have never done lash extensions, and I don’t know if I ever will in the future. You never know, though! My lashes have always been naturally long, so I don’t want to risk damaging them. I have heard that lash extensions can really do that. However, I feel like if you have had really short lashes your whole life, then it would probably be worth it! So you just have to weigh the pros and cons!
- “Is there anything you make sure to do everyday to help you keep focused?”
As a Stay-at-Home Mom, routine is key! I always make sure I’m spending lots of quality time with Lana throughout the day, so I really have to make sure that there are certain times where I get the most work done. I usually get the most done in the mornings, so that I can do more fun stuff with her in the afternoons! 🙂 Having a set order of how I do things each day really makes a difference.
I really love answering your questions, so always feel free to send them my way! Maybe at some point I can create a weekly post where I answer questions! I just need a name for it. 😉 Now back to the fringe cardigan! You can shop my whole outfit below!
